This Guide represents a collaborative effort. Joanne Bauer and Silvana Zapata-Ramirez of Rights CoLab refined the framework, wrote and tested questions for portfolio companies and the sector- and issue-specific considerations for each effectiveness criteria, designed the web structure and navigation, and led the overall development across the project partners. Peter Webster, Jana Hoess, and Egle Spina of EIRIS Foundation conducted a comprehensive analysis of four recognized international standards on meaningful stakeholder engagement and corporate stakeholder engagement disclosures found within the 2023 Corporate Human Rights Benchmark. They organized this content into the four “pillars,” and together with Rights CoLab identified the “effectiveness criteria” for meaningful stakeholder engagement.  Danielle Pamplona, Anna Luisa Walter de Santana, and Melina Fachin of ESG Inteligente contributed the section, “A rights holder viewpoint,” drawing on insights from capacity-building workshops they organized with civil society participants in Latin America. Sam Jones of Heartland Initiative contributed to the “High risk situation” section.

Other Investor HREDD Precision Tools project partners also provided value feedback on the draft Guide: Jenna Kowalevsky and Paloma Muñoz Quick (BSR), Samantha Chua (Conflict Risk Network, EIRIS Foundation), Remi Fernandez (PRI), and Polly Marsh and Joy Zhang  (Workforce Disclosure Initiative, Thomson Reuters Foundation). The Guide also greatly benefitted from the expertise of Shauna Curphey (Just Ground, Rights CoLab), Lila Han (OMERS), Saskia Kort-Chick (Independent Advisor), Jason Pielemeier (Global Network Initiative) and Liz Umlas (IndustriALL Global Union). We are grateful to Lila and the OMERS team for also hosting a beta-testing session of the early prototype as a side event at PRI in Person in Toronto in October 2024, and to all the session participants for their valuable feedback.
