High risk situations
Regularly tracking and reporting on affected stakeholders’ input and how it was used to critically reassess and inform project plans and corporate strategy is critical. Tracking requires the establishment of an M&E system for the stakeholder engagement plan and its corresponding action plan that responds to rights holder input. The system must be transparent, include rights holders in its design and ongoing oversight, and integrate lessons learned from the engagement activities and grievance mechanism.

Their input was only sought during the approval process, which left them feeling abandoned and distrustful of the company.
